OPEN POLLINATED MAIZE

Zea mays

Maize is a short-lived annual summer crop. Open pollinated varieties are used for grain, silage production, & in cover crop mixtures (for building organic matter).

This crop grows best where 600 to 1500 mm rainfall per annum is available. It can tolerate temporary dry conditions when young.
